Choosing The Right Air Conditioning System For Your Home

The process of choosing the best air conditioning to be installed in your home needs a lot of consideration and planning. Knowing the needs and wants and the specific type of air conditioning is important before settling on the right aircon. Here at Logicool Air, our Air Conditioning Installation work has helped us really understand the best aircon for each home. Working in Sydney for over 15 years, we can offer our advice on the right air conditioning for each home.

A split system is best suited to install for providing one room with air conditioning. For multiple rooms that need air conditioning but want different conditioning options then multi-split systems are advised. When the whole home or larger homes want consistent amounts of conditioning then ducted aircon is usually the greatest choice.

Split Systems

Split systems are a type of air conditioning which provides cooling and heating for individual rooms, ideal for compacted spaces. They are designed to be installed in a single room with the compressor installed outside the building. Furthermore, the indoor unit has air transfer into the house from the outdoor unit and cools or heats it. These air conditioning systems can be wall-mounted or floor-mounted with being simple to use and install.

Advantages with Split Systems

There are multiple reasons why a split system aircon unit would be selected to be installed in a home:

  • Easy Installation – installing the single unit is quite easy with not that much work involved. Additionally, it is quite flexible in terms of where the unit can be installed which can be appreciated.
  • Energy Efficient – with only one system being used there is overall less energy being consumed.
  • Economical – split systems are cheap to run for being efficient and cheap to install because of less labour needed.
  • Flexible Designs – there are many designs of split systems which can be chosen which means they can work well in most spaces.
  • Quite – most newer systems are built to be much quieter which is always a benefit.
  • Zoning – because there is one system that means that the room which it is installed in will receive the conditioning.

Multi-Split Systems

Similar to split systems, individual units are installed in one room to conditioning the specific area. However, unlike the single unit of split systems, multi-split systems have one compressor connected to multiple units. Ideal for five rooms and up, these are great for homes with many people as each unit runs independently. Each room has its own temperature, additionally, multi-split systems are good for homes which have no space for a ducted aircon.

Advantages with Multi-Split Systems

When looking at multi-split air conditioners there are many unique benefits which give it value:

  • Simple Installation – with different units connected to one outdoor unit it is overall not too complicated or expensive to install.
  • Flexible Installation – likewise, as there are multiple units, they can be installed in different rooms needing the conditioning with ease.
  • Independent Control – with the individual systems each has its own controls it allows each room to have its own temperature.
  • Quiet – because the outdoor unit is outside the noise is minimal, likewise, the indoor unit creates almost no noise.
  • Energy Efficient – similar to split systems, multi-split systems are energy efficient needing minimal energy to run. Also, because different units are being used and not all at once that will also help with lowering costs.

Ducted Air Conditioning

For homes with more room or medium/larger in size, ducted air conditioning is a great option. When wanting to heat or cool the whole home, as well as, having the aircon hidden ducted aircon is amazing. An indoor and outdoor unit are present, which the indoor one is hidden in either the floor, wall or ceiling. Air vents allow for flexibility and this type of aircon, as mentioned, is more suitable for homes with more space.

Advantages with Ducted Systems

Different to both split and multi-split systems, ducted air conditioning has many advantages:

  • Aesthetics – because the units are hidden away it will often not clash with the style or design of the home. With no box needing to be involved, designing a space or having a cleaner look is easier with ducted aircon.
  • Energy Efficient – even though the whole house receives the conditioning, the running costs can be quite minimal. Especially with more contemporary designs, it can be cheaper to run despite the initial installation which can be more expensive.
  • Consistent Conditioning – cooling or heating the whole house is easy, allowing the whole home to be the same temperature.
  • Quite – most aircons of today’s age are built to be quiet, ducted air conditioning being some of the most silent. The outdoor unit is outside can be positioned so it is not near any important space decreasing noise levels. Likewise, the indoor vents and ducts are almost completely silent and are often never heard.
