What Is The Most Energy Efficient Air Conditioning?

Installing an energy efficient air con will help reduce your energy bill and is better for the environment. The star rating labels on the air conditioner will help provide an insight into how efficiently the system uses energy. Here at Logicool Air our technicians know the benefits of energy efficient aircons while can work on them.

The most energy efficient air con system offered to Australians are Daikin air con units. These systems have an average energy rating of 7 stars which will save you money when running. Efficient air conditioners will help with energy savings, and are often built with advanced technology while providing reliable cooling and heating.

What is the Most Energy Efficient Aircon In Australia?

Daikin offers reverse cycle air conditioners which have an energy rating of 7 stars. Their split system units are some of the most energy efficient aircon systems on the market offered to Australians.

The US7 is one of Daikin’s most energy efficient ac units as it has multiple benefits. Built with advanced technology, this unit has an in-built humidifier to draw out excess moisture in the room. The dehumidifier will also remove the humid temperatures and mix fresh air in the room. The aircon uses R32 refrigerant which is safer for the environment and the system works to remove carbon monoxides outside.  For more information on why you should choose Daikin air conditioning, we encourage you to read our blog.

What is an EER Rating for Air Conditioners?

EER stands for Energy Efficiency Ratio which will measure the performance ability of a device and how it uses energy. This will measure systems such as the washing machine, hot water systems, heating system to the fridge and freezer. More importantly, air conditioners are given an EER rating, where the higher the rating means the more cooling it will provide for every watt used.

Why is a High EER Rating Important?

The higher the EER rating means that the system will use its energy more efficiently. This means that the electricity costs will be lowered and the less energy used means it is better for the environment. Also, the comfort which the aircon will provide is increased as often better technology is built in the system.

How do I Calculate EER for my Aircon?

If the EER rating is not listed in the manual then knowing the capacity (BTU) and power (W) of the system is needed. Dividing the power from the capacity will achieve the EER rating result. For example, an aircon with 12,000BTU and is powered by 1000W then 12,000BTU / 1000W means an EER rating of 12. This means that every 1W used will provide 12BTU of cooling.

What is a Good EER for Air Conditioners?

The average EER rating of home air conditioners if around 8.5 where the recommended is 12. If an air conditioner’s EER rating is below 8.5 then it is unadvised to purchase it as it will cost more to run.

Why is AC Energy Efficiency Important?

There are many benefits which come with installing an energy efficient air conditioner:

  • Longer lifespan
  • Greater temperature control
  • Lowered energy bills
  • Safer for the environment
  • Better temperature control
  • Quieter to run
  • Sleeker and more modern design

Are Split Systems or Ducted Aircons Cheaper to Run?

Split systems are generally cheaper to run when compared to ducted aircon systems. This means though that split systems run longer than ducted systems as people will often turn off their ducted systems more frequently. Below is a guide on how much it will cost to run a split system and a ducted air conditioner.
