Everything You Need To Know About HVAC Systems!
HVAC systems are a type of air conditioning unit which provides a wide range of services and uses for a specific building. There are many types and sizes of HVAC systems which have the main priority to provide comfort and thermal control. A qualified technician is required to install these types of aircons, while also being able to be installed in most places. Logicool Air has been working with HVAC systems for over 15 years with our Air Conditioning Service, providing a range of help.
HVAC systems mean Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning units that offer a range of different uses. These are installed in both residential and commercial buildings and are designed to help with air and thermal control. Additionally, they should use principles of fluid mechanics, heat transfer and thermodynamics. Mainly being installed in larger buildings, these aircons help keep the humidity and air at a certain level as well.
Various Kinds of HVAC Systems
Often heating and cooling systems will use half of the energy use of a building so selecting the right HVAC system is important.
Single-Stage System – these types of ac units are made with the purpose of providing only heating or cooling. These systems may also be inefficient which means that they work to their capacity even if it is not needed. However, they are inexpensive and may meet the needs of people wanting a simple and easy air conditioner.
Advanced Single-Stage Systems – compared to normal single-stage aircons, these offer fan speeds which can be changed for the purpose to lower power usage. Though, these are often still inefficient which leads to them being more expensive, especially long term.
Multi-Stage Systems – these air conditioners are similar to singular stage systems but are designed to run on two speeds. Usually, this means it runs faster for when it gets hot or cold, depending on if it is heating or cooling. The other speed, furthermore, is that it runs on lower levels at all times when the temperature does not need to be combated too hard.
Zoned Systems – better for places with many rooms, these systems are made to provide cooling or heating in specific rooms. Through specific materials and construction elements, these systems will block air conditioning from travelling to specific parts of the building. These are perfect, therefore, for areas which does not always need or want the same cooling or heating in each area.
Humidity Control Systems – humidifiers and dehumidifiers are options which can be included within the aircon systems. Dry environments and tropics are the target places for these systems, as well as are essential. Also, the option for humidity control can also be installed separately to the air conditioning. This is chosen so the aircon and humidity control does not have to run at the same time.
Heating Systems – for heating purposes, there are a few main types of air conditioners which one can choose from. A furnace burning material for heat or boilers with heat pumps from different energy sources can be chosen. Furthermore, radiant floor, or hydronic heating, can allow heat to develop and provide ‘underfloor heating’.
Cooling Systems – these systems can be installed to cool one room or the whole building. Being flexible, these cooling systems are also often cheaper to install, purchase and run. Additionally, evaporative coolers are also popular because they can draw air from outside then have the air transformed into cool air.

Different Ways HVAC Can Operate
There are six main ways which an HVAC system can work which will be chosen due to certain factors.
Heat Pump – These extract heat from cold areas to then increase the temperature of the air and release it into an area. Moreover, these are efficient, and when used for heating, apply the same refrigeration cycle of that of an air conditioner. Likewise, these can be used for cooling purposes to then reverse the flow of heat air into cool. However, these systems are extremely efficient and effective when it comes with heating, up to four times more beneficial than traditional heating.
Rooftop Units – larger in size, these aircons are on a rooftop and moderate temperatures of larger spaces. Otherwise called an air handler, these include cooling and heating elements, a blower, as well as other components. Also, they usually connect to a ductwork ventilation system to then provide the air throughout the building.
Water Source Heat Pump – highly sustainable, these uncommon systems use a body of water and geothermal heat pumps to function. They are becoming more popular due to offering both cooling and heating and using components of the earth and other natural elements.
Packaged HVAC – similar to rooftop units, these are more intended for residential and domestic purposes. They come in two types, one being with water-cooled condensers, using condensated water, and are within a building. On the other hand, air-cooled condensers use the air outside to function, consequently, are located outdoors.
Split Systems – a split system air conditioner is popular for those who want heating and cooling in singular rooms. They run to fit the desired temperature, are cheaper to install and are overall more simple to have.
Ductless Systems – these are smaller in size and apply cooling or heating in one large room or many smaller rooms. These HVAC systems are mainly within residential buildings, being easier to install and have an aesthetic design. However, these systems are often more costly when compared to central systems.
